Sarah Champion MP urges the Home Office to amend Crime and Policing Bill to better protect victims
Sarah Champion MP met with Home Office Minister, Jess Phillips, to seek Government support for her amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill.
Champion has tabled several amendments to the Bill [1], including one on the provision of training for Mandatory Reporting, and another to prevent Registered Sex Offenders from changing their name. These amendments seek to better protect children, as well as victims of rape and sexual offences.

Sarah Champion MP pushes Minister to adopt new law to protect women around the world
Sarah Champion MP and Baroness Hodgson of Abinger met with Foreign Office Minister, Lord Collins, to seek Government support for their Women, Peace & Security (WPS) Bill, scheduled for 2nd Reading in the Commons on 20th June.
Champion urged the Minister to adopt her proposed law to soften the impact of the aid cuts. She argued that at a moment when women’s and girls’ rights are under attack, the UK must do more, not less to champion women’s’ voices.

Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has worked with brave campaigners from Open Justice for All to secure Free Sentencing Remarks Transcripts for victims and survivors of rape.
The Ministry of Justice has been running a Rape and Sexual Offences Pilot Scheme to allow victims access to Free Sentencing Remarks. Champion tabled a series of Parliamentary Questions to apply pressure on the Government to make the scheme permanent [1]. The Minister for Justice wrote to Champion, to confirm the scheme would be rolled out permanently from 30th May, following the publishing of the Independent Sentencing Review.

Sarah Champion MP joins forces with horticultural experts, to campaign for more allotments and community gardens
Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, is pushing the Government to provide more allotment and community garden land, under Labour’s planning reforms.
Champion has joined forces with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) and the National Allotment Society (NAS) to campaign for the provision of more of these sites.
